Making friends online in Kerala is increasingly popular — and mostly safe — but it helps to follow a few simple rules. Here are our top safety tips from the Gush of Love safety team.
1. Never Share Personal Details Too Soon
Avoid sharing your home address, workplace, or financial information with someone you’ve just met online — no matter how friendly they seem. Wait until you’ve had several genuine conversations and feel genuinely comfortable.
2. Meet in Public First
If you decide to find someone in person, always choose a busy public place — a café on MG Road, a beach in Kovalam, or a busy mall. Tell a trusted friend or family member where you’re going and who you’re finding.
3. Trust Your Instincts
Kerala’s culture values politeness, which can sometimes make it harder to say no. But when it comes to online friendships, always trust your gut. If something feels off about a conversation — it probably is. You can block anyone on Gush of Love at any time with zero awkwardness.
4. Keep Conversations on Platform Initially
Until you’re comfortable, keep chats within the Gush of Love app. Moving too quickly to WhatsApp or Instagram removes the safety features and verification our platform provides.
5. Report Anything Suspicious
If anyone asks for money, makes inappropriate requests, or seems to be using a fake profile — please report them immediately using the in-app report button. Our team reviews every report within 24 hours and takes swift action.
